Chelsea fire five past Wycombe

Chelsea hammered Wycombe Wanderers 5-0 in a pre-season friendly at Adams Park on Wednesday evening.

22 Blues spent time on the pitch as the Premier League club returned to action after just a week of pre-season training.

Returning youngster Patrick Bamford, who starred on loan for Derby County last term, opened the scoring with a fine left-footed volley on 20 minutes before Izzy Brown made it 2-0 early in the second half when volleying home a cross from first-year scholar Jay Dasilva.

Captain John Terry, who took the armband off goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer at the break, added a third in the 50th minute when he fired home a corner from Jeremie Boga before Branislav Ivanovic made it 4-0 just before the hour-mark when heading home a dangerous Boga free-kick.

Brown helped himself to a second with four minutes remaining, which rounded out the five-goal win, when he struck sweetly from outside the area.

Jose Mourinho's youthful side were far too good for the Chairboys in the first half before the Blues boss introduced some bigger names in the second lot of 45 minutes to finish off the League Two outfit.
