Chelsea defender Thiago Silva: PSG contract offer came too late; there's no hatred

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva has again detailed how he left PSG after their Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich.

The veteran admits PSG chief Leonardo attempted to persuade to stay with a new contract offer, but the director's move came too late.

He recalled to France Football: "The day after the final, in the hotel lobby (in Lisbon), he told me he wanted to talk to me and chat with my agent, on Tuesday (August 25).

"But, on the way to the airport, my agent then lists the proposals for me, including that of Chelsea. I told him that I had to talk to Isabelle (his wife) about it first.

"We chatted all night Monday, and on Tuesday morning I told my agent we were OK for Chelsea. After lunch, there was this meeting with Leonardo during which he offered me, or tried to offer me, a one-year contract. I told him I gave my word to Chelsea. It was too late.

"We then talked about PSG, what could be improved for the good of the club. It all ended well, I don't feel any hatred or anger against him or PSG. On the contrary, I am grateful and I thank president Nasser (Al-Khelaifi) for this great adventure. Football is like that, life goes on."
