Chelsea boss Pochettino explains dropping Chilwell for Mudryk

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has explained starting Mykhaylo Mudryk as wing-back at Bournemouth.

Pochettino fielded Mudryk wide left today instead of Ben Chilwell.

He said before kickoff: "(The international break was) difficult because everyone sees that we didn't have too many players to train. Of course it's tough for two weeks after you lost at home which is difficult. We need to be positive with the competition that is there.

"I think we are going to play with (Mykhailo) Mudryk in the position that we normally have been playing (Ben) Chilwell, we will play with a more offensive player and keep the back four. (Moises) Caicedo arrived from international duty with a knock in his knee, we need to asses him for the next few days. He was not available for today.

"It's a great opportunity for the guys who didn't start in the first months to show the quality and that they are ready to compete in the premier league.

"We need to win and show that we are Chelsea and we are ready to compete."
