A-League club Central Coast Mariners have made a formal submission to Football Federation Australia regarding their player Patricio Perez.

The Argentine striker was handed a two-match ban for simulation in last weekend's clash with Sydney FC but was unable to appeal so the Mariners have decided to take the matter up with the federation.

If as expected the FFA turn down the claim then the Mariners may take it to the courts to seek an injunction to get Perez off his suspension.

Central Coast will use advice from biomechanics experts that Sydney goalkeeper Liam Reddy did in fact make contact with Perez, causing him to fall in the penalty area.

At the time, the incident was seen by referee Matthew Breeze who sent Reddy from the pitch and awarded a penalty to the Mariners which Perez duly converted.

A similar incident occurred in the Melbourne Heart versus Perth Glory match with new Glory striker Michael Baird but the Western Australian club have said they will accept the ban and take no further action.
