Celta Vigo coach Benitez: Garces and I working closely; Jonny Otto?

Celta Vigo coach Rafa Benitez has welcomed new sporting director Marco Garces.

Garces is experiencing his first transfer window as Celta sports chief.

Benitez said: "It's good. He also has experience. Now he (the football director) is here, and I talk to him and the scouts. This communication is relatively easy. They work a lot watching players and we focus on training and games. What he tells me is that we are looking at profiles and from there if we find something that can contribute to us, then we value it.

"I think we are moving forward. I take this opportunity to emphasize that I don't know how many times Celta has signed a player in December for the January market.

“I am always very confident that something can be found. This January market is complicated and you have to think about it a lot. Until January 31 we have a lot of time to make decisions."

Benitez was then reminded of a famous quote of his when coaching Valencia.

Asked if he was 'afraid that instead of a sofa they will bring you a lamp?', Rafa smiled: “Clearly not because there is continuous dialogue and it is easy. I am clear about what may interest me as a coach and he (Garcés) what may interest us as a club. We are hand in hand.

"There are other coaches who sign and that's it. Here I have thrown back players who I did not see could be a short-term solution, I saw them as a mortgage for the club in the long term."

Asked about Wolves fullback Jonny Otto, he added: “We look for profiles and we have to find something that is ideal in all aspects. We look at everything."
