Celta Vigo coach Benitez delighted with Copa win at Valencia: Douvikas will get better

Celta Vigo coach Rafa Benitez was left delighted with their 3-1 Copa del Rey win at Valencia.

Benitez feels the win was proof of the team is now coming together,

He said, "We came to Valencia with the idea of winning, we knew that they were very good and that they were very confident, with the stadium full and the public pushing.

"We knew it was going to be a very difficult game, but the idea remained the same. I congratulate my players because they have competed very well and we have scored three goals in a very difficult stadium.

"It was a Cup match, with that tension and intensity and happy because the team competed very well.

"I think it was good. They have tried many things and more than Valencia's demerit it has been Celta's merit, which has worked very well in the defensive phase and with counterattacks, which could have been more precise and could have gotten more fruit out of it. Valencia hasn't been bad, Celta has been good."

Anastasios Douvikas struck twice and Benitez added: "He and Swedberg have worked exceptionally in attack. Its not easy. Douvikas is a player, and I have told him this, that he has not come to play as well as he has. He has come to score as long as he is at Celta and I hope he continues at this level and scores many goals in the Cup and if it can be in the League, too."
