Celta Vigo coach Benitez confident board will give him time

Celta Vigo coach Rafa Benitez recognises they need results to ease pressure on his players - and himself.

Celta go to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night sitting third from bottom.

Benitez said: "Everyone collaborates, the players are involved and the fans support. Logically, the results hurt me as much or more than anyone else. I spend all day trying to find the key. There are a few games in which we deserved more.

"When you sign a player and give him a five-year contract, the first few months he doesn't adapt and you think about giving him time. You sign a coach with a track record, for three years and in a totally new project, with a team that suffered last year to save the division, I understand that this is part of the confidence that the club deposits in me.

"I am aware that the results have to help the project move forward. But we don't blindfold ourselves, there is coherence, with these conditions we have to find a way."
