Dani Carvajal admits Real Madrid players discussed Kylian Mbappe arriving over the summer.

The PSG striker Mbappe was again linked with Real Madrid this past summer market before ultimately staying.

Carvajal said, "I won't lie to you that there were no discussions, but in certain pre-season conversations after dinner all kinds of opinions were heard.

"I really thought he was coming and I really think Real Madrid would be his preferred option. As soon as he didn't leave for the tour, we thought he was going to join us, but then something went wrong and he didn't come.

"He's one of the best and they play for Madrid."
