Former Aston Villa striker John Carew feels the antics of Liverpool firebrand Luis Suarez are understandable.
Carew says Suarez's upbringing has influenced his on-field persona.
He is quoted by the Daily Express: "In Scandinavia, we have it too good to have such characters, society takes care of you and makes sure that you are well.
"Check out the players in Uruguay or Argentina, they have grown up on the street. Luis Suarez has grown up on the street, that's why he's so good. He has fought all his life.
"He bites at times but life on the street has built up his character."
