Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez delighted to score in Aston Villa draw

Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez was delighted to score in their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

He hopes this is just the beginning after he helped Burnley secure another valuable point.

“It was a great feeling. To get back in the game was really important at the time and you can't beat scoring," said Rodriguez, who came off the bench to help spark a fightback completed by Chris Wood's third goal in two games.

“It's always important to get off the mark. You always look forward to the first one and I hope there are many more to come.

“I will keep my head down, keep doing the same things, keep working hard and try to take my chances.

“The competition for places is great, and I think you need that. It's healthy competition. We all want everyone to do well and I think that's a real good recipe tomove forward and it's good to be part of."
