Burnley defender Keane: No word from Van Gaal...

Burnley defender Michael Keane admits he didn't hear from Louis van Gaal after choosing to leave Manchester United.

Keane's discussions with Manchester United at the time of his departure were with under 21 boss Warren Joyce, the former Burnley player, rather than Van Gaal.

"I've not managed to speak to him (Van Gaal) yet, I spoke to my under 21s manager and I'm going to go in some time in the next week or so to say goodbye to people so I'm sure he'll speak to me then," Keane said.

"I've had a few messages from players, sad to see me go but wishing me well with my career.

"It's a big move in my career and a vital stage so I had to make sure it was the right one.

"So far it is proving to be. I just need to keep playing well, stay in this team and keep in the Premier League.

"Playing for a manager like this who has shown so much faith in me and playing with these lads who have been great to me since the first day I've been here, I'm really enjoying it.

"Obviously United is huge all over the world, Burnley is not on the same scale but it's a really good club.

"The fans are fantastic and there's a great history at this club, so it's not as if I'm coming to a small club."
