Burnley boss Kompany: Points deductions? What can I do?

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany admits he tries to avoid the Premier League's points penalty controversy.

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest are appealing against their penalty deductions for breaching financial rules.

With the situation hanging over the relegation battle, Kompany said: "I try not to spend any energy or time on things I can't control. What happens after the deductions, I can't control that, and neither should I have anything to say on it. It is between the relevant authorities and the clubs. I have nothing to comment on this other than what we can do on the pitch.

"When I came to Burnley, I think on the last day we were still in between two leagues and I've never been in a mindset where I haven't had to think about the possibility of being in two leagues. It's crazy to think about but, when I joined I had to either plan for Premier League survival or the Championship. Last year was the other way around and this year it's back to the same again. So it's not as difficult as you might think because we live in that reality.

"If it comes to that (getting relegated, then having the decision changed), if we are out of the building on the last day of the season, then I will not switch my TV on and someone will just have to call me to tell me the decision has been made.

"I'll probably be on the beach somewhere waiting until someone tells me the decision but not caring one bit in the meantime. It will be holiday time and then at some point, I'm sure I'll have clarity but as I said, we are always planning for both scenarios and both leagues so it's not that different."
