Brentford have put in a £26 million offer to Fiorentina for one of their main strikers.
The Premier League club, who are without Ivan Toney until January, are bidding for Argentina striker Nico Gonzalez.
Per The Mail, Brentford want to secure the 25-year-old, who scored 14 goals last term, as soon as possible.
While the Bees had previously been against signing a striker for half a season, they now want to make the move.
Aside from Toney being banned until January for betting rules violations, his future is also up in the air.
If the England forward moves on in January, then Brentford would be in a much tougher position.
