Manchester United and Newcastle are expected to finalise a deal to take Dan Ashworth to Old Trafford.
The Newcastle sporting director wants to leave for the Red Devils after being lured by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Ashworth has a past relationship with Ractliffe's right-hand man Sir Jim Brailsford as well.
The 52-year-old is seen as the ideal person to lead United out of the recruitment wilderness.
Per The Mail, the two sides will find a deal that allows Ashworth to start working at Man United sooner than later.
He does have gardening leave in his contract, but an additional payment could settle that matter.
