Brady thrilled as West Ham Facebook crashes through 1M barrier

West Ham United's Facebook page has crashed through the 1 million barrier.

The Facebook Page attracted its 1,000,000th fan on Christmas Day, to complement the 373,000 Twitter Followers and 128,000 followers on Google+ that the Club boasts.

A combined total of 1.5m fans on social media places the Hammers firmly inside the top ten most followed clubs in the Barclays Premier League and top 30 in Europe.

West Ham United Vice-Chairman Karren Brady told whufc.com: "We would like to say 'thanks a million' to the one million fans that have liked our Official Facebook Page.

"We have channelled a lot of energy into growing our social media platforms over the past 12 months and this is exemplified perfectly by our Facebook numbers increasing by 117% during that period.

"Our squad now boasts an array of international stars from all corners of the globe and this clearly has had an impact on the number of international supporters that are following the Club.

"As the Club prepares for its move to its stunning new Stadium, we can only see our global reach increasing and we will continue to harness the power of social media to bring people closer to the Club, whether they live in London, Jakarta, Sydney or Sao Paulo.

"Our presence on Facebook, as well as Twitter, Google+, Instagram and other social channels will continue to grow along with the Club, and we look forward to welcoming the next million on board!"
