Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson has revealed he still has the £15 million raised from Nicolas Anelka's sale to Chelsea burning a hole in his pocket.
"The money that we spent in January wasn't the money that we got from Nicolas Anelka, it was money that was there before.
"We bid £7million for another centre-forward but it was turned down. The desire to sign another centre-forward was there but we just couldn't get that one in. So losing Nicolas Anelka wasn't a blessing in disguise. It happened, we had to deal with it and we have done okay."
Megson declined to reveal the identity of his strike target but confirmed it was not Leroy Lita, the Reading forward who had little impact against Bolton's resolute back-line.
