Morten Gamst Pedersen has welcomed the arrival of new Blackburn signing Elrio van Heerden.

The South African has joined on a free from Club Brugge and Pedersen said: "It's good to have competition. Buying and selling is part of football.

"I can play several positions and I plan to keep playing regularly next season."
