Cameron Jerome has welcomed Birmingham City's early signing spree.
He said he had got a buzz from Blues' early summer business in the transfer market.
"There's been a bit of money spent, the board do seem to be backing the manager, and they've got to," Jerome commented.
"You've had teams going down from the Premier League who perhaps weren't expected to, and the ones who stayed in will make additions because they think they've got a good chance again next season.
"So you've got to be as competitive in the transfer market as you can and buy good players, not let people go but make the squad stronger.
"We're doing that at the moment and with the players we already had from last season, I think we can look forward and be optimistic."
