Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish says there's too big a financial gap between the Premiership and Championship.

McLeish dropped into the second tier before leading the Blues back up at the first attempt.

He told the Scottish Sun: "The financial gap between the Premier League and the Championship is enormous. To be honest, it's too big - it's a black hole.

"There is a parachute payment in place which helps a fallen giant to get back.

"But that payment isn't available forever and if you don't get back up within two or three seasons there can be dire financial consequences."
