LA Galaxy captain Landon Donovan believes the omission of David Beckham from the Great Britain Olympic football team is devastating for the veteran.
The 37-year old former England captain has been told he will not be one of three overage players in Stuart Pearce's U23 Team GB squad and Donovan admits he feels for his teammate.
"To have that taken from you is devastating, especially for a guy who has done so much for his sport in that country.
"It would be easier to understand if he wasn't playing well but I think anybody who has seen him play would say he deserves to be on the team.
"We probably all don't agree with the decision but that's the way soccer is, always has been that way.""The opportunity to play in an Olympics in your own country is really special," Donovan said.
