Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed a serious injury has been suffered by Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The former Manchester United fullback broke down in the defeat to SC Freiburg.
It's now been confirmed Fosu-Mensah has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will require an operation and won't be seen again this season.
Bayer sports director Simon Rolfes stated: "We will support him as much as we can so that he emerges stronger from this difficult situation."
Fosu-Mensah signed permanently for Bayer from United in January.
