Barcelona striker Lewandowski: Why I decided to leave Bayern Munich

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has explained why he chose to leave Bayern Munich last summer.

The Pole says he felt he had won everything available at Bayern.

He told Sport: "All in all we couldn't keep up with Inter and Bavaria, but we're in La Liga and we should be happy with what we did.

"I won everything with Bavaria, but for me it is a new step in my career to be part of Barça.

"I want to win again and to be the best club with the best players who play the best soccer. If you have won everything, you have to find new sensations, new challenges, new experiences.“

At the end of his contract in June 2026, Lewandowski will be 37 years old.

He continued: "When I was 30 or 32, I wanted to play at a high level for three or four years. So I do everything I can to play as long as possible. As long as I'm fit and want to win titles, I'll be here."

On making the 2026 World Cup, he added: "It doesn't depend on my body, but on the aspects of football. I know I'll be ready if I want to be there, but it's too early to decide. It is still three and a half years. That's a lot, and now I'm focusing on the next European Championship in 2024.“
