Barcelona president Joan Laporta is adamant they have an exciting future.

With finances tight, Barca are having to turn to their La Masia kids - which has left Laporta encouraged.

He said at a sponsor's function: "At Barça we have always opted for talent from a very young age, the commitment to the formation of our club is unique in the world. Generations have emerged who have brought extraordinary results.

"And this passes from generation to generation. There is a continuity. There was a glorious generation that led us to great successes and thanks to that, with a contagion effect that reflects many young people, another is emerging. It is one of our strengths, our way of being. Our commitment starts with young people with a world-class La Masia and knowledge that we export to many countries."

The president added: "For the club to be viable and sustainable, both from a sporting and economic point of view, the commitment to our local footballers is very important. We have always been successful when the team was mainly made up of boys raised by us, with high-level skills."
