Barcelona president Laporta admits trail for Juventus striker Morata going cold

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is pulling back from their push to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata.

On-loan at Juve from Atletico Madrid, everything appeared set for Morata to join Barca this month, only for Juve coach Max Allegri to refuse to sanction the transfer.

And with the stand-off, Laporta has admitted they're now considering other "options".

He explained, "We are trying to strengthen the squad. There are some options. We have brought in (Daniel) Alves, who has shown us his character. We have a young group with talent.

"We are working to see if something else needs to be reinforced. We think that the more players with goal we have, the better."

On Ferran Torres, Laporta also said: "He has worked well at the club.

"He improves the squad and is ambitious. We are expectant and excited."
