Barcelona's players are prepared to take pay-cuts to assist the funding of wages for non-playing staff.

AS says talks have commenced between Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the locker room's senior leadership group, led by captain Lionel Messi.

And the initial progress has been positive, with a show of goodwill from the players recognising the seriousness of the situation.

With all football suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak, Barca's revenue is taking a heavy hit and will effect the club through all levels.

And for their part, the senior squad - the biggest drain on the club's finances - accept pay-cuts will be needed to cover costs.
