Barcelona president Joan Laporta says Argentina captain Lionel Messi winning the World Cup was football justice served.

Current coach and former Messi teammates Xavi Hernandez was of the same opinion.

"All the Cules think that it was historical justice that Leo won his World Cup. Messi's talent makes us happy and this long-desired cup has arrived. He can be very satisfied," he said.

The fans are very grateful for his talent," explained Joan Laporta to Barcelona's official media during the presentation of the New Era docuseries, which premieres on the December 28, attended by almost the entire squad.

Xavi Hernandez also added his congratulations to Leo Messi.

"It was an extraordinary final for the spectator, one of the best games I've ever seen in my life, I think Argentina were better and deserved it.

"I feel sorry for Dembele and Kounde, who came close. And congratulations are due to Leo Messi, who finally has his World Cup, something that could not be missing in his career," explained the coach.
