Barcelona coach Xavi is keeping tabs on Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

Barca are in the market for a new defensive midfielder, despite the arrival of Oriol Romeu from Girona.

And Argentina international Guido is a player admired by Xavi.

Sport says Barca are watching the midfielder this season with the aim of bringing him to the Nou Camp next summer.

Guido is inside the final year of his current contract.
