The French youngster is in Germany and expected to put pen to paper on a contract in the coming hours.
BILD says Todibo arrived at Dusseldorf airport on Sunday and was whisked away by waiting Schalke officials. After undergoing a routine medical, the defender will sign terms on-loan to the end of this season.
The agreement does not include a purchase option.
Just last week, German great Lothar Matthaus declared: "Todibo is the best central defender I have seen in a long time. He would be a good reinforcement for Schalke and an enrichment for the Bundesliga.
"At 20, he has an incredible calm, he always finds creative solutions."
