Barcelona coach Xavi has rejected criticism of Eric Garcia.

The defender has been hammered after defeat at Real Madrid on Sunday.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow night's clash with Villarreal, Xavi said: "We highly value all the players, but especially Eric.

"There are always mistakes and our central defenders are very exposed, but for me Eric is a guarantee. He is very professional, he trains very well. We all have to improve, but I really appreciate Eric."

On Villarreal, Xavi also said: "It will be complicated. I admire them because they play very well. They can do many things. (Unai) Emery is a great coach. I like it a lot. But we have to win the three points."
