Barcelona coach Xavi hailed Gavi after victory over Elche.

Gavi struck his first LaLiga goal in the 3-2 win.

"He played a spectacular game," Xavi said. "Because of his ambition and his personality. It's great to have him for his personality, what he creates, his goal, his assists.

"He is the future of this club, but he's not alone. There's also [Ronald] Araujo, [Alejandro] Balde, Nico [Gonzalez], Abde [Ezzalzouli]. They're the future of this team and this club. They're a fantastic generation.

"Even Riqui Puig. At that age I was scared, but they're great.

"Gavi is emotional, he hits speed bumps but he's only 17. He makes a difference and I'm happy to have him, but I don't want to make comparisons with anyone.

"He has no ceiling. He's delivering."
