Barcelona coach Xavi relieved to overcome Elche: Also anger and indignation!

Barcelona coach Xavi admitted relief after their 3-2 win against Elche.

The Blaugrana had blown a two-goal lead before Nico Gonzalez's late strike sealed the three points after he had been brought off the bench not long before.

"We did some things very well," Xavi said. "But we lacked a bit. Elche didn't have to run or to transition.

"We had to make more tactical fouls. Their goal got them into the game and then it was 2-2, which affected us given our situation.

"The three points are great, but we have to get back to our model, to get back to our positional game. We hope that this will be a turning point, but we complicated this game ourselves.

"We had chances we didn't take, and they survived because of our mistakes. We can't do that.

"We have to do more, we have to be more responsible when we're winning. I'm happy with the points."

Despite leading 2-0 after an hour, Barcelona saw themselves pegged back with two Elche goals in two minutes, leaving the coach fuming.

"Anger, indignation," Xavi said asked what he felt of the comeback. "It was incredible.

"But with persistence and character we reacted. This game was a final and it meant a lot to win it."
