Barcelona coach Xavi admits preparations not best for Maradona Cup

Barcelona coach Xavi admits they go into the Maradona Cup not in the best form.

Barcelona play Boca Juniors at the King Saud University Stadium on Tuesday in a tribute game for club legend Diego Maradona, and come into the match off the back of a poor draw with Osasuna in LaLiga Santander, and after dropping out of the Champions League will face Napoli in the Europa League playoffs.

"It is an honour to be here representing Barcelona and doing so in homage to one of the best footballers in history," Xavi told the press.

"It is a good test for the players who aren't participating with Barcelona B and the first team. It is a good test to see footballers who have not played much such as Dani Alves.

"The trip isn't going well for us, but we are here and have a lot of enthusiasm.

"Now we have to change our mindset, bring joy back and get good results. We have to overcome [our issues] and think about giving good image tomorrow and finishing off the year."
