Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman admits he's disappointed Pedri will be taking part in the Olympics for Spain.

Koeman has concerns with Pedri going to Tokyo after spending the month at Euro 2020.

He said, "Pep (Guardiola) said something important. For a player, old or young, it is not good to have two big tournaments in one summer.

"He (Pedri) has had a great season, playing almost every minute of the games. Then four days of partying, traveling to Japan and having to come back ... I think that's too much. You have to protect the players.

"For me an Olympics is more athletics than soccer."
