Barcelona coach Koeman admits encouraging young fringe players to seek new clubs

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman admits the January 24 election will make it a difficult winter transfer window.

Koeman recognises that it makes things problematic but says talks are still ongoing with those currently at the club about ins and, above all, potential outs.

"In principle, we are speaking about things to do with the team, where we can improve, what is best for those that don't play as often, but it's not definitive, so I don't like to speak about individual cases," Koeman said Monday.

The Dutch coach added: "Our job is to prepare ourselves so that when there's a president we can finalise things."

On the young players that aren't getting minutes, Koeman didn't deny he believes they should look for an exit in January.

"I repeat that now it's about being prepared and if there's something we like or works well for a young player, being with another team for six months, we will speak first with the players," he said.

"Each player can make the decision if they want to (leave) or not, but we give advice to a player that doesn't play as often and who we won't use much."
