Atletico Madrid are considering removing the plaque dedicated to Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The dedication was made after the years Courtois spent with Atletico, where he helped them win the LaLiga.
But disparaging comments since made by the goalkeeper has seen the plaque regularly vandalised by insulted fans.
After constant attacks, the club's Social Commission have given him an ultimatum. They want him to ask for forgiveness to maintain the recognition on the Walk of Centennial Players. Otherwise, they will withdraw it.
In a statement, the club noted that the goalkeeper has been sent "a letter considering he failed to meet the criteria to maintain his badge in statements that hurt the fans, offering him the possibility to rectify and apologise".
From the club they affirm that "there is an open conversation with the goalkeeper to clarify this situation".
