Atletico Madrid want to sign Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu immediately this month.

The Daily Mail says Atletico have asked about taking Soyuncu from Leicester in the January transfer window.

Atleti boss Diego Simeone is believed to be keen on rebuilding his defence after a shaky few months, and sees the Turkey international as part of the solution.

However, a deal is considered highly unlikely with the 26-year-old expected to agree a pre-contract instead for the summer when he is a free agent.

Despite being a regular under Brendan Rodgers for three years and helping Leicester to the FA Cup in 2021, Soyuncu has fallen out of favour this season and played just one Premier League game.
