Atletico Madrid veteran Fernando Torres has paid tribute to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, he insists Barcelona ace Leo Messi is the better player.

Torres' own career in LaLiga is certainly in its twilight at the present moment; however he is still contributing for Diego Simeone's team.

"What Cristiano Ronaldo has done in the time of Messi says a lot about him," he explained to Radio MARCA.

"If he wasn't there, then Messi would have achieved double.

"I think that Messi is the best player in the world, although they are different players."
