Atletico Madrid captain Koke: We should've put Real Madrid away

Atletico Madrid captain Koke admitted frustration after their 1-1 draw with Real Madrid.

Koke says Atletico only had themselves to blame for letting two points slip in the derby against Real Madrid on Sunday.

The hosts had limited their rivals to few chances during the match, only for Karim Benzema and Casemiro to combine for a late equaliser.

"We were the better team, but they can score from any chance," Koke said.

"Fresh guys came on and the team tried to get forward, but we were up against a great opponent that has a lot of potential in attack to score goals."

The most controversial moment of the game came in the first half, when the referee didn't give a penalty for a handball by Felipe.

"From my point of view, I'll say it wasn't handball and from the other [point of view], they'll say that it was handball," Koke said.

"It's better if the referee doesn't explain it to anybody."
