Athletic Bilbao coach Valverde: We deserved more from Granada draw

Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde was left frustrated after their 1-1 draw at Granada.

Inaki Williams had Athletic 1-0 ahead before an own goal earned the hosts a point.

Valverde said: "I can't be satisfied to have one more point and not have three. In the first half we had the chance to increase the lead and the score fell short. In the second half it was foreseeable that they would press a little more but I think that up front we lacked a little finesse to finish more clearly.

"Not having scored another goal in the first half penalised us. We are a team that has to work hard to score."

He also said: "It is sad because of the circumstances surrounding the match and we sympathise with the family of the deceased Granada member.

"In any case we played, we cleared our heads, and both teams wanted to win a game that seemed very long. We have fought and we have not been able to specify our clear situations, hence we have not achieved victory. We went for it and had very clear chances and then conceded a strange goal. We have produced more to have won the game."
