Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was delighted with his players after their 6-0 rout of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Martin Ødegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Ben White all struck for the visitors.

“I'm really happy," Arteta later said. “Obviously coming to this ground is always very difficult. And the team, again, showed a high level of performance - of desire, of quality, and I'm really pleased, obviously.

“The way we started, having to play here on a Monday night, but the team showed again how much they want it, the quality we have, the determination to continue to go.

“We train every day with that mentality, with that desire, and if they can do it, why not consistently? That is something that we have to show."

Arteta was also pleased with the return of Fabio Vieira and Thomas Partey, after long injury lay-offs.

“I'm happy that we have some players back as well. To see Fabio after that many months to see Thomas after four months, they are good signs from the team."
