Arsenal winger George Lewis was chasing a move away this summer, it has been revealed.
The Norwegian was included in Arsenal's Premier League squad this week.
However, Lewis was hoping to get a move away before the start of the season and had a low-key trial with Sandefjord in Norway, but failed to land a deal. This came after Arsenal decided to activate the option of extending his contract by a further year.
"The club chose to activate the option [to extend the contract] and I'm really happy they did. If not I wouldn't be here," Lewis told Arseblog.
"I just want to play matches. If it's in Arsenal or on loan at another club, I honestly don't know. There has been some interest around, so a really important decision for my career is coming up, where I'm going to play the next 6 or 12 months.
"I take day by day and step by step. For me it's all about getting 10-15-20 matches under my belt, scoring goals and assisting and make the best of the opportunities I'm given this next year, wherever that will be. I can only control what I can control, and that is myself and my development."
