Arsenal are weighing up a move for Sporting CP midfielder Tiago Tomas.
Tomas made his big breakthrough last season with the 19-year-old scoring six goals and producing three assists in 37 games.
Goal.com via Fotboll Transfers says Arsenal have been in contact with Tomas' representatives regarding a potential move.
Roma have also expressed interest in Tomas, who is being compared with Brazil great Kaka.
The attacking midfielder was instrumental in Sporting's title triumph last season. He scored six goals in 37 appearances over the campaign, which also included three assists.
Such form has brought him to the attention of clubs across Europe, with Arsenal football chief Edu and his counterpart at Roma, the Portuguese Tiago Pinto, both expressing interest.
However for the moment, Tomas is understood to favour staying with Sporting, where they're looking forward to Champions League football next season.
This time last year, Tomas signed a contract with Sporting to 2025. For the moment, the midfielder is a Portugal U21 international.
