Arsenal legend Seaman: Arteta wrong with keeper rotations

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's decision to bench Aaron Ramsdale has come in for criticism.

The Spanish head coach has set out his stall with regards to his preference at goalkeeper.

Arteta brought in David Raya on an initial loan from Bournemouth, and he is now in the starting lineup.

"I always felt that a goalkeeper needs to be settled and know that he's number one," former England star and Arsenal legend David Seaman told The Express.

"I don't know whether [Ramsdale] will be thinking of trying to get away, but as a goalkeeper you always want to play. That's where the balancing act is going to come into play with Mikel.

"He's trying to keep two goalkeepers happy because now you've got two real top-quality options. What do you do? You can't just leave one of them, not play him and expect him to be happy. [Not playing] is frustrating, that's the main point. The only way to keep a goalkeeper happy is to play them. It's difficult, I'm still trying to understand what he's trying to do."
