Former Arsenal coach Freddie Ljungberg has confirmed talks with the Swedish Football Federation.

Ljungberg is being discussed by the SvFF as they seek a replacement for Sweden coach Janne Andersson.

"You probably don't really want to talk about things like this so much, and I'll be quite brief. It is clear that some contact was made, but it was quite a long time ago, so I can still say that," he told Viaplay.

"I think what is said in such a conversation is private, but contact was made.

"It is clear that it would be a great honour to be the national team captain for the Swedish national team, but there are many parameters around where Sweden is today, and what is needed for Sweden to become a successful football country again.

"So it is quite a big question."
