Arsenal technical director Edu feels Martin Odegaard found a better environment after leaving Real Madrid.

Odegaard has thrived with the Gunners since leaving Real Madrid.

Edu said: "There are players who work well on one side and poorly on the other.

"It depends on the moments, the opportunities... Our strategy is and has always been to sign young players, and he fit in straight away. He arrived on loan and then we decided to buy him.

"We had followed Martin for many years and perhaps we had the patience that the others didn't have. Now he's one of our captains, he's having fun."

Edu then praised Real Madrid for the signing of Jude Bellingham.

"He had already seen himself in the Bundesliga, with his potential he could go very far. We realised that it is something special, different. We must congratulate Real Madrid and him for the great season he is having."
