Arsenal boss Wenger forced to work with limited transfer budget

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is working to a limited transfer budget this summer.

The Mail on Sunday says Arsenal do expect to secure the £10m transfer of Lille striker Gervinho in the next fortnight to allay the fears of fans that they have been too inactive in the transfer market.

However, once that deal is agreed, Wenger will have just £15m more to spend.

Wenger is expected to use the additional funds to sign a centre-half, either Bolton's Gary Cahill or Blackburn's Chris Samba, but further additions would have to be financed from player sales.

Nicklas Bendtner, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Eboue, Carlos Vela and Denilson are the players Arsenal would be willing to sell but the potential sales of Samir Nasri, who has declined a new deal, and Cesc Fabregas worries Arsenal supporters.
