Arsenal boss Wenger encouraged in Zapata pursuit

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been alerted by Cristian Zapata's claim he is desperate to leave Udinese.

The centre-half, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to The Emirates. Wenger has confirmed he is a big admirer of the Colombian, says the Daily Star Sunday.

Zapata's agent Massimo Italiani said: "I don't know what will happen this summer, it's still unclear.

"There are a number of clubs that are interested.

"At the moment it is more likely he will move abroad than sign for another Serie A club. A move to play in England would be a dream."
