Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has challenged Tomas Rosicky to play his way to a new contract.
Wenger wants the Czech Republic ace, 33, to prove his fitness and play at least 25 games this season before a new offer will be put on the table.
An Arsenal insider told the Daily Star Sunday: "Tomas has played an integral role in Arsenal's season so far.
"But he is 33 and the manager will be cautious about handing him an extension.
"If he can play 25 matches this season then that will indicate that he is strong enough to stay on."
