Argentina knock five past hapless Canada

Argentina have tuned up nicely for the World Cup by knocking five goals past Canada in Buenos Aires.

Maxi Rodriguez hit two first-half goals and was joined by Angel Di Maria who also hit the target prior to the break.

Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero scored goals four and five in the second term as Diego Maradona's men said goodbye to their home fans before departing for the World Cup.

Maradona said it was a solid performance by his team who were without star man Lionel Messi.

"The guys understood we have no friendlies but international matches. We made our fans happy. We wanted to prove the players can do this and more. The Argentinian fans can be calm because we have good players," he said.
