Gaizka Garitano has been named new coach of Almeria.

Garitano succeeds Vicente Moreno, who was sacked by Almeria last week.

The Basque arrives after leaving Segunda Division Eibar at the end of last season.

Almeria finds itself bottom of the table, five points from safety and without a victory in nine games.

They turned to free agent Garitano after Chivas coach Veljko Paunovic turned them down following lengthy talks late last week.
